Opening Night Reception - February 19, 2010

 

Opening Night Reception will be held on Friday, February 19th from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm in the atrium of the Taubman Museum of Art. Admission fee of $2, ages 12 and under for just $1, will allow the patron to view not only Best in Show offerings, but the Taubman Museum displays as well. 

The artwork submitted is done in oils, pastels, chalk or pencil.  It could be photography, collage, decopage, or any other fom.  Each 12x12 panel will have a pet or animal theme.  More than 100 regional artists will have their work on display.

Winner of "Best in Show" will be featured as the cover of the 2011 Pet Calendar.  Awards have been expanded to include more categories. 

The artwork will be on display at The Market Gallery from February 20 through March 6th.  The Market Gallery is located at 23 Salem Avenue, Roanoke, just a block from the Taubman Museum of Art. 

The Shenandoah Club will host the display from March 8 - March 19th.  The Shenandoah Club is located at 24 Franklin Road SW, downtown Roanoke. Use the Bullitt Street entrance to view the show.

All artwork will be for sale. The artists have designated a portion (or all) of the proceeds to the RVSPCA.  Note cards featuring category winners will be available for sale, also.
