Pets are victims of the downturn in the economy as much as their owners. When times are tough and money is tight, should anyone have to choose to give up their pet to the pound because of the cost of food? Thanks to the RVSPCA's PET (Pets Eat Too) Community Outreach program, many pet owners do not have to make that choice.
Beginning in 2007 to help homebound seniors who were sharing their protein-rich Meals on Wheels deliveries with their pets, the PET Community Outreach program now includes pet food distribution at four area food pantries. To date, more than 250,000 pounds of pet food has been distributed - over 1.2 million meals - to help keep pets and people united!
The RVSPCA has received a grant from the Banfield Charitable Trust to purchase dry cat food in support of the PET Community Outreach program. The money will be used to purchase the food at near wholesale cost - nearly doubling the value of the grant.
Take the Banfield Challenge and help us raise an additional $5,000. No amount is too large...or too small. Each dollar contributed will purchase nearly $2 worth of food to help feed a hungry companion pet. A tax-deductible gift can be made by clicking here.
